Biographical: I'm a Canadian university student plodding my way towards a Natural Resource Science degree.  I was exposed to tea at a very young age through my paternal grandmother, an Irishwoman raised in England, and she would often have my mother and I over to her house for tea.  It wasn't anything exotic, Red Rose orange pekoe, in my case with tons of sugar and milk - but to me drinking tea seemed very grown-up.  Plus I loved the little ceramic figurines that came in the boxes of Red Rose in those days.  It wasn't until I started university that I started drinking loose leaf tea and became aware of things like steeping time and water temperature.  Let's just say that tea has been a minor obsession for me ever since.

It was also around that time that I became interested in the medicinal aspect of various herbs and tisanes.  I have always loved plants and gardening and today I keep a modest collection of dried herbs in my tea cabinet to use for things like headaches and colds.  The natural world has always held a lot of fascination for me.

Why do I love tea?  I love the sense of history and culture behind it, and I love the diversity - there's always a new blend to try.
